J. Michael Kuperberg, Ph.D. associate director

Dr. Kuperberg's research interests include the neurochemical basis for organophosphate-induced alterations in body
temperature as well as the application of basic scientific research to environmental decision making through the use
of risk assessment. His responsibilities at the CBTR include providing toxicological support services to various state
and federal agencies.

He is the project manager for a multi-year, multi-million dollar, U.S. DOE-funded program being conducted in southern Poland.
The purpose of this program is to identify and evaluate environmental remediation technologies with potential for application
to the DOE complex.
|
Current projects in this program include the removal of heavy metals from soil
by plants (phytoextraction) and the biodegradation of petroleum hydrocarbons (bioremediation). Dr. Kuperberg teaches classes in
ecological toxicology and risk assessment at Florida State University and Florida A&M University.
