Roy C. Herndon, Ph.D.
director

Dr. Herndon is Director of the Center for Biomedical and Toxicological Research at Florida State University. He also serves as Director of the Institute for International Cooperative Environmental Research (IICER), an integral part of the CBTR. The mission of the IICER is to conduct research in the area of environmental contamination, and to identify, develop and deploy strategies and technologies for solutions to environmental problems. Dr. Herndon is also the Director of Research for the Institute of Science and Public Affairs at Florida State University. In 1992 he was awarded an Honorary Professorship by the faculty of the Technical University of Budapest for his contributions to its environmental program. Dr. Herndon is the founder and chair of the biennial symposium series on environmental contamination in Central and Eastern Europe.
In 1980 he established the Southern Waste Information Exchange which continues to provide waste exchange and waste management services to industry nationwide. He is the author of numerous publications in physics as well as hazardous waste management. Dr. Herndon is a member of the American Physical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Institute of Biological Sciences and the Florida Academy of Sciences. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and is listed in "Who's Who in America" and "American Men of Science".
